Cummings Pepperdine on regulatory hosting platforms

What is a regulatory hosting platform?
If you are based in the UK and you feel the time is now for you to establish your investment advisory business or your investment management business or you are wanting to market your investment fund in the UK, with the opportunity cost being too great to wait 6-9 months for your FCA application to be approved, you should consider using a UK regulatory hosting platform (“Platform”).

A Platform can give you the opportunity to carry out UK regulated activities with the necessary FCA permissions without, or prior to, you needing to obtain direct authorisation in your own right.

The Platform will take its regulatory permissions and let you use them in a manner which allows you to carry out investment management, investment advisory and/or marketing services while at the same time retaining your own identity, ownership and control.

Using a Platform does not make you FCA authorised. It means you are using the Platform’s FCA authorisation – something which must be made very clear on your website and all business materials/interactions with investors and service providers.
